My friend wants a topper like this for her baby shower cake...

I think I can figure out how to do the woman by using the Fondant Fairy article

However, I need tips on how to do the chair. Anyone have any ideas? My thought was to do it in 4 sections: the back, the sides and the cushion, but how do I put them together? The only thing I could think of was toothpicks. I've never done anything with figures so I don't know where to start. Should both the figure chair be gumpaste if the guest of honor wants to keep it as a souvenir? I need help! Thanks. icon_smile.gif

Why don't you pm the person who made it? I have found that almost everyone is more than happy to tll you how they do stuff.

By the way, I have used toothpicks before, but have since learned that dry spagetti is also good to use for that. I think gumpaste will keep for a long time. Good luck!

Yeah, I would do it in 4 sections and put together with toothpicks/spaghetti and use royal icing to glue it together. Maybe only the royal icing would be needed to hold it together.

He's not a member here that I know of (he's the start of the new show Ace of Cakes on Food Network)...but thanks for the idea anyway.

I'm going to give it a shot doing it this way. I wonder how far in advance I can make it...should I use gumpaste or something else? Maybe a gumpaste/fondant mix?

have fun, just one word of caution, keep it out of sunlight!! the colors will fade!! i like to leave things on my dinning room table then finish working the next morning..well the sun comes in that window early mornings...and fades my fondant work. fortunatly its all been stuff I had been playing with for fun.

have fun

Email them then! I've emailed Duff before and talked to Mary Alice, the manager. She is a member here - charmcitycakes. I pmed her a few days ago but she hasn't answered yet. She does post on the forums every now and then. icon_smile.gif

Try [email protected]
