Came across this by accident! Made red velvet cupcakes for ds' birthday party, filled with bavarian cream (bagged version). Looked great, red with white inside, school colors.
After sitting for 4 hours or so, they were served at the party. BLEEDING CUPCAKES!!! All the food coloring ended up making the filling dark red. Grossed out the parents, "they're, um, filled", but the kids loved it!
Get some of the candy cut fingers, eyeballs, etc, to decorate the tops with, and HAVE A GORY HALLOWEEN!
