Has anyone ever made cookies ahead of time and decorated them and them frozen them? Just curious if this is an option if you need to make cookies ahead of time! Thanks for the help!

I don't think you can freeze iced cookies, but not totally sure. I know that for instance chocolate chip or peanutbutter are just finein the freezer. Put them in a tin wax paper lined. icon_smile.gif

I just experimented with this - I baked Wilton's sugar cookie recipe, iced them with Toba's glaze (marbled the glaze for the autumn leaves), froze them two weeks ago. They're for a party this Sunday. I took a few out of the freezer yesterday, brought them into work for trial and they were perfect. The glaze didn't get soft nor moist. They were perfect. Oh, I froze them in a plastic container with waxed paper between the layers.

I froze some No fails iced with antonias icing for one week and they turned out great. They were individually wrapped and placed in a plastic container. HTH

Do you wrap them individually first or just layer them, thaw and then wrap? Thanks for the help!

I didn't wrap mine. I just layered them with waxed paper between the layers in a tupperware container. The few I took out to try were fine. If they're not okay for Sunday's party, I'll report what happened.

I just tried this with NFSC and Antonia's royal icing. It was only for a week though. I took them out of the freezer yesterday and let them thaw/come to room temp COMPLETELY before unwrapping them. I tried one today and they taste exactly the same. The icing looks fine too- it was only one color though, so I'm not sure if more than one color would be affected. I wrapped in saran wrap- took a really long piece, put one cookie toward the end, covered it up, put another cookie, covered it up and so on. Then I wrapped the bundle in another piece of saran wrap, and then a piece of foil. I would be tempted to use my foodsaver if freezing longer than a week.

I am going to keep looking until I find the answer! Can I freeze decorated sugar cookies (NFSC & Antonia's Icing) for a month or two or three if they are sealed up tight? Has anyone tried freezing for longer than two weeks? Thanks in advance for your help! I am doing an experiment now, I will post my results in a month or two.
