...has anyone done this?
I think I'm gonna try it out. I wanna make a really gooey, fudgy, chocolatey cake.
I have a chocolate cake mix and a brownie mix...not sure what I'll be doing for the rest of the ingredients, like how many eggs, butter, etc...I'm sure I'll figure it out....anyone else done this?
this past weekend made a chocolate sheet cake.
did 2 boxes butter recipe DH chocolate
+ 4 cups of DH chocolate fudge as the extender (in place of sugar and flour)
+ 2 4-serving pkgs chocolate pudding
+ 16 oz sour cream
8 eggs
1 cup melted butter
1-1/3 cups milk
and
full pkg of nestles' MINI-choco chips.
----
I thought it was great ---
tho' one person did say --- way too rich! too chocolate! (as if such a thing were possible in my world!)
4 cups of DH chocolate fudge...??? Like regular fudge? Whatta ya mean?
From a box???
(no way it could been too chocolatey)
4 cups of DH DRY chocolate fudge cake mix.
the extender recipe says to add 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar per box of cake mix.
so...
I buy two boxes of butter recipe chocolate cake mix and 1 box of chocolate fudge cake mix and then use that chocolate fudge cake mix as the extender.
and then the 2 boxes of chocolate pudding too!
Ohh...ok...so....2 boxes...plus the fudge one....correct????
And this is fudgy gooey cake????
I dunno if I have those....but I do have the box'o'fudge brownie mix...maybe if I did the same thing as you only use the brownie mix for the fudgy cake mix....??????
(mmmmmmm)
holy cow, that is a LOT of chocolate Doug!!! I better get a big glass of milk.... Im going to have to try that out! ![]()

Okay Doug, now that is a lot of chocolate, but from one chocoholic to another, I agree there can never be too much, so I definitely want to try this. What size sheet pan did this fill? And after all that was it too rich to frost?
Thanks,
Kathi
this filled a 12x18 pan (collared)
or 12x18 not collared w/ extra for .....cupcakes, about an 8 to 9 in round (or eating raw -- i know, i know -- but ain't dead yet!)
too rich??? HA! lay on the icing.
oh...and if you know what heath bars are -- several of those frozen and then smashed real good are a great addition too!
OH and the trimming scrap make a great cake ball! --- got 3 dozen in the kitchen right now!
doug.....sounds duhlish...will definitely try!

HOLEY GUACAMOLE! You sound like my youngest brother. He dabbles and was describing the 'tweak' he did to an old family chocolate fudge cookie recipe... (which is RICH to start with!)Went something like this:
"Oh, you know, I used chocolate milk instead of regular, found chocolate extract to use instead of the vanilla, added 2 cups of chocolate chips and then did a ganache on top"
I swear my teeth started to ache as he described it!
