I am thinking of buying some Silpat mats because of antonia74! She makes such beatiful cookies so she must know what she's talking about!!
My question is, how many of you all have tried them and are they worth buying?
And, can you get them at the stores or do you have to buy them online?

I have a roul'pat that is only for rolling stuff out on and I love it!!! It keeps the parchment paper from sliding around. I found mine at bed, bath & beyond

I would never bake cookies without my mats! Even for regular drop cookies, they are the best!

Bed Bath & Beyond or Linen's & Things carries them in stores. Or try ebay, I got 2 for 1 about a month ago!

They are superb...Pay the extra for the real silpat. I find the imitators are not as good. You can buy them in other stores but I'm in Canada so I can't help you with where. (Usually any kitchen supply store)... I just invested in a silpat rolling pin (small to start with) but I havn't tried it yet.

I just got one a few weeks ago and it is awesome!!!! As soon as I get another 20% off coupon for Bed, Bath And Beyond, I am going to get another! The cookies slide right off the sheet...you hardly need a spatula!

I bought one a couple of weeks ago and I think it's great. Once you have them, I haven't been buying much parchment paper. I wish I would have gotten the mats a while ago.

I'll be getting another mat this week because Bed Bath & Beyond sent me another 20% off coupon.

I have heard wonderful things about them, don't have any, but would like to get one soon. I have seen them at Williams Sonoma also. Martha Stewart swears by them!! If Martha says their good they must be! Ha!

I have one that I bought a few months ago. It is big - 24x36. I use it for rolling out fondant, since I found out that fondant does not stick to it. I use Satin Ice fondant and it is softer than MMF or Wilton. I LOVE MY SILPAT!!!! I bought it from cakedeco.com (I think....). I will never roll out fondant without it again!!! I have a smaller (9x13 I think) that I use when rolling out fondant for decorations, etc.... I purchased the big one so I could roll fondant out for cakes.

HTH,
Chelle

In case you don't know...Bed Bath Beyond and Linens accept their own expired coupons, and they take each other's coupons but not expired.

I'm so cheap I'll tell you what I did... I went to Wal-Mart and right next to the counter where they measure and cut fabric are these huge rolls of plastic. I bought a piece of the thickest stuff, it's like $3 or so a yard. I cut it into a large piece (for rolling out fondant to cover a cake) and a small piece (for rolling decorations). They work like a dream. About a dollar's worth of plastic and I have the handiest fondant tool in my repetoire! And if it ever gets damaged I don't have to get upset because it was so cheap!! Yay! Plus you can see through it from the bottom to make sure there are no imperfections in the surface that will be showing!

So I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond yesterday and I did find them. But I was torn between getting a Roul Pat for rolling them out on or the Silpat for baking. I guess I wanted both but I couldn't afford it! The Roul Pat was 39.99 and the Silpats are 19.99. So I bought the Roul pat and as soon as I can I'm going back to load up on Silpats!
Would you guys recommend getting both or one or the other? Because I know you can roll them out an the Silpat too but they're not as big.
