I have attempted many times to mix petal dust to paint onto fondant. I have mixed small amounts with vodka to cover the fondant silver to achieve the metallic look, but it never mixes together, it justs clumps like watery sand. Where am I going wrong? Please help, I really need to figure this out.
You need to use Lustre dust not Petal dust.Petal dust is a different medium made for dry brushing.Lustre dust will mix better!!!
I have always used lemon extract and it's worked fine for me everytime! Good Luck!
I have also always used lemon extract (ratio of 1 tsp. extract to 1/4 tsp. dust), and have had success. For some reason, when I've tried vodka (same ratio) it didn't work at all.
Thanks to all. Kiddiekakes I didn't know there was a difference. I'll buy luster dust and try it. I'll also use the lemon juice.
make sure you use lemon extract not lemon juice
It's the alcohol in the extract that makes it work.
