I love the Durable Cake for 3D and Weddings recipe here on CC but has anyone added chocolate to it? I am still searching for a moist, but durable chocolate cake enhancer recipe. I am making a cake for a family reunion this weekend and want to empress everyone with a delicious chocolate cake. I have had problems in the past with dry chocolate cakes.

I am also looking for this... I tried the DH Devil's food - added the enhancer ingredients including 3T cocoa. Was not impressed with the taste. The texture of the cake was OK - it was just something was missing on the flavor...

This is a chocolate cake recipe I use and it is always moist(I think it was on the Duncan Hines box)

1-DH devilsfood cake mix
1- package chocolate pudding mix(instant)
4-eggs
1/2 Cup oil
1 1/4 Cups water

I've used the cake mix extender recipe on a chocolate cake mix and have added a couple of squirts of chocolate syrup and it helped make the cake taste chocolately.

When I use the extender for a chocolate cake, I substitute 1/3 of the flour with cooca - the darker the better. It helps keep the deep chocolate taste.

Thanks everyone. I really like the idea of squirting chocolate in the batter. I have also found out the hard way that when adding cocoa, extra liquid is required.
