I have a lady who wants me to make a cake for her husband's birthday; she wants the cake to be shaped like the letters of his fraternity. She says not too large being it's just a birthday cake.
How much would you charge for this cake, also, what size pan would you use.......... oh crap..........HELP!!!
Do I need to just make a large sheet cake and cut the letters from that or do I need to do 3 individual cakes and carve each letter from each cake???
Do you know how much she wants to spend? You mention she does not want it large. Does it have to but cut letter or can you do a FBT on a sheet cake.
Have you done a FBT, they are neat and fun and will add a lot to a cake. Maybe she will like that idea.
If you bake a large sheet cake and then cut the cake into letters that is going to be a lot of money - example: 1/2 $35 plus carving letters maybe another $30 which would be your total to $65. So may want to charge $70-$75 it is going to be a lot of work. If you do spearte cakes cut it is still going to cost about the same.

I asked her if she wanted the FBCT; she wants the cake to be the actual letters/symbols of the fraternity. She doesn't want it to be large at all; I was thinking about taking the 11x15 pan and cut it into 3 letters/symbols and charge $50, my dH thinks that's too much, I don't. The lady wanted to know the price so she could get her money together; I took that as meaning she knew that it wasn't going to be any Wal-Mart prices going on!!!
