I know that rice krispys are supposedly only good for about 2 days....but, my question is: If I don't plan on them being eaten....(I am coating them in buttercream and then covering in MMF) how far in advance would y'all recommend making them(I don't want them to spoil or anything). I know MMF takes quite awhile to dry....my daughter's party is on the 18th of this month. So, technically I have a couple of days shy of 2 weeks till her party. It has been more humid than normal here in West Texas, so I know that MMF will probably take longer than normal to dry anyways. Any advice or info. will be greatly appreciated.

If you make the rice krispy treats with no butter, then they should be fine. This will also help them to set up properly. The butter is what keeps them soft.

I agree with Michele. I'd say without butter, they'll be fine. I made a Yoda cake for my sister's birthday a couple of weeks ago. I made the head several days early and then she waited a couple of days before cutting the cake because she was so happy with it...(which made me happy icon_biggrin.gif ). Anyway, as far as I could tell the rice krispies were fine. I didn't use butter either.

When you say that you don't use butter, does that mean that you use margarine instead or that you don't use any fat at all?

Thanks,
Debbie

I didn't use any fat at all. I've only used rice krispy treats twice. Once for the Yoda and the first time was for a dragon, but both times I just melted the marshmallows in the microwave and mixed in the rice krispies. They dried very firm, worked great.

Thanks ladies! Is it still too early to make them though? I basically have 12 days......I am just also thinking of the MMF on top....drying time. Thanks again icon_smile.gif
