Hello,

I am going to bake a 12 x 18 sheet cake and decorate as a practice cake for one I have to do on the 15th. I have never baked a sheet cake. I am going to have to use 3 cake mixes (not quite ready to try scratch one new thing at a time is all I can hande.) my questions is can I mix all three at one time or should I do separate and then mix together. I do have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer I think can handle (I hope took alot of convincing hubby that I needed this) lol. Please let me know how the best way to do this. Thanks in advance to all you wonderful cc's who always takes the time to answer my questions.

Maria

I do mine seperately. Make sure and use a heating core so the middle bakes. Good luck!

If your KA mixer is smaller than a 6 qt.. it will not handle 3 mixes. I have a 5 qt. model and it only will take 2.. the 4 qt only 1.

unless you have an extra large bowl, you will not be able to mix all three at the same time. I can only mix two in my KA at once.

I mix my cake mixes all together. My 5 quart will hold 3 but only when the splash guard is on it. I'd do the first 2 then the 3rd. Do you add anything to your mixes? If so, that will create more batter. Just make sure you measure, you'll need 14 cups of batter total. Also, use 2 nails to help it bake evenly. I'm sure you'll do fine!! thumbs_up.gif

Depends what size bowl you have for your KA. Using the KA bowl which does not have a handle-you can do 2 cake mixes at once . While this is mixing measure all ingredients for the 3rd mix so you are ready once you pour the first mixes in pan. Bake @ 325 I have never had a problem without using heating core. I have seen posts where a rose nail was used as the heating core.

Hope this helps

If I mixed them each separately, I believe I would at some point mix them all together so all of your cake would have the same texture, etc. Janice

I used three doctored mixes for mine & mixed them all seperately because I was worried my bowl wouldn't be big enough. I probably could have done two together but not three. I also used three flower nails spread out near the middle of the pan.
