Can you use the paper towel smoothing method with this icing?
Thanks for your help.

I tried the buttercream dream last week, but for some reason, it did not crust well, I could not use the viva method.... But it tastes really nice. I made the icing 2 days before use, so I dont know if storing it in the fridge altered it in any way???

Have yall used parchment paper to smooth your icing? It works really well, and creates a completely smooth surface.
For my buttercream icing I use this:
2 lbs. confectioners sugar
4 Tblsp. water
2 Cups crisco (crisco only, as it seems to work best)
1 tsp. clear vanilla
1 tsp. clear butter flavoring
1 tsp. clear almond flavoring
Mix the Crisco, flavorings, and 2 Tblsp. water and beat until smooth. Add the sugar, maybe 2 cups at a time and beat to blend. Keep adding your sugar, then use the rest of your water and beat at least 10 minutes to smooth it out.

I made a batch the other day and didn't beat it long enough, and I never did get it so that it would crust, even with the paper towel method Finally threw it out.
