I am only sixteen and I love to decorate cakes. I have been asked to do my very first cake order for my neighbour. She wants a motorcycle cake and I don't know whether it I should use the pan or the do the piping gel transfer of a picture of a motorcycle. If anyone has ever done a similar cake let me know what worked best because I am kind of nervous and want this to turn out good!
Thanks!
what about a fbct???? Those are easy and they look very impressive to non cake decorators.

okay, here are a couple motorcycle pics.....the instructions on fbct's and a great recipe for buttercream that works great for the transfers. good luck and welcome to Cake Central!!!
I did a regular sheet cake and made a road with tire marks down the center and put a die-cast motorcycle on the road and piped flames coming from the motorcycle. It was really cute!
I know that's not what you were looking for, but I thought I'd give you a bump!
i agree, you should definatly go with the fbct...i find the shaped pans boooooring,do something that will wow him, cause all it takes is one happy customer and then your on your way to bigger and better things!!!! good luck and don't forget to post the pic when your done!!!
Congratulations on your first cake order!!
I agree with Pookster about the shaped pans - they are very boring, as they limit your creativity, and entirely too much work to make the order worthwhile.
I would also suggest using the FBCT on this cake, since it is for a customer, and it is your first order. FBCT's are easier because you freeze them before laying them on the cake - less chance of smearing them than with piping gel.
If you go with the FBCT, and you still feel you want a shiny look to the motorcycle, you can always warm some piping gel to thin it a little, then paint it on the tank and fenders.
Good luck, and make sure you post a photo for us!

I agree with everyone, try a FBCT for your cake order. It will be fun to try something new!
