What type of printer do you have for your edible images??

Have been researching and in the process of buying a printer for edible images. I was looking at the Canon ip6700D, but not sure if it will work. I saw a site about watching the new printers, they have a micro chip in the ink cartridges and you can't use them. ????? Please Help.

I use an Epson CX5800F. I haven't had many problems. I get the supplies from KopyKake.

I have a canon mp750. I get my supplies from http://www.icingimages.com/. But, now that I know the icing sheets can be purchased at Sam's.. I'll get those from there and just continue to purchase my cartridges from them.

Sam's = Sam's Club.

I have a Canon i860. It's OK, but takes 5 ink cartridges so that makes it more expensive to operate. I buy supplies from photofrost.com

I use the Canon PIXMA 3000. It works pretty well. The only thing I find is that when I print black people, I have to lighten the pictures so that the faces don't come out as black blobs. I get the icing and cartridges from icing images as well. They work pretty good. Just a FYI... I went to Sam's yesterday and asked about purchasing boxes and flower sprays. The ladies looked at me like I was crazy. I finally asked for the bakery manager. She wasn't in so I will call her tomorrow.

I'm not new to cake decorating (25 years), but I am new to this site BTW (it's awesome)! as far as using a printer to print edible images can you use a regular printer and just use it for the edible images or do the cartridges only fit the printers specifically for edible images.

coldtropics, i have a canon pixma mp750 and I really love it.. it uses six cartridges though... i purchased mine fron canon.com.. because i couldn't find it in a store and it was much cheaper to purchase it seperate thatn buying the package on http://www.icingimages.com/. and other websites.

jibbies, yes , if the cartidges will fit, you can use any new printer (canon or epson) there is a list her on cc and i believe on the site i previously mentioned.

Thanks everybody. I had no idea you could buy equipment from Sams. I have a club card and go all the time. I also go to BJ's warehouse that is where you can still get regular Crisco. We were looking at a new Canon model and I read a post that the new printers have a mirco chip in the inks??
