I have taken course I. I don't have enough money (yet) to pay for both classes. If you were opening a cke business and wanted the most useful techniques, would you for course II or III, or are neither worth taking.

Thanks

any class would benefit a person. the more cakes you make and practice the better you will get.

DecorateMe your cakes are gorgeous! you should allow comments on them.

which course you take really depends on what medium you prefer to work in. Wilton II is mosly royal icing work while III focuses on fondant and stacked cakes.

where i live the classes are relatively inexpensive, so i would say that they are very much worth taking.

best of luck,
dandelion

IMHO they are both worth taking and where I live you can't take III until you've taken II. I got alot out of both the classes. HTH

Dandelion, thanks icon_smile.gif I didn't realise I wasn't allowing comments, I was a little disappointed no-one did icon_redface.gif

I live in Israel and it will cost 700shekels ($175) to do each course. Right now that's a lot for me. Hopefully I'll start advertising next week and will get lots of orders, in that case I'd LOVE to do both!
The instructor (who teaches all levels) told me I could do III without doing II.
I guess I'm just thinking which will be more usefull in the short-term.

Off to see how to let ppl. add comments....

Thanks
Sharon

That is a lot of money for the course! Wow. Here it is like $25 plus supplies...which easily add up though!

But it looks like you have a great start, your cakes are great. If you dont have the money right now, I would just keep coming to cc and keep practicing. I took all three courses, but really I think I learned mostly from here. I liked having had course 1 and 2 to get the basics, but after that course 3 didnt really help me much.

Thanks Merissa,

I was wondering if I'd learn much more in Course III about stacking and fondant than I'd learned here and rom books. I think I'll try course II and learn some more flowers.
The $125 includes the course kit, which I don't think they sell for $100!

I think it is better to go in order with the courses anyway. I think it was beneficial to learn about royal icing in the course two. I tried it once on my own and it was a disaster. Acutally i really learned all my fondant and stacking from cc! I took course 3 afterward (because I was going to become an instructor) but I dont really think I learned much of anything new since I had already been practicing.

What do they do other than royal icing in course II because I have worked with RI before, making cookies. I just don't want to feel like I wasted my money KWIM? I can do a basketweave, can work with RI. I wouldn't mind some pointers on colour-flow and some new flowers, but it's a lot to pay for that, especially when most ppl. want roses!

Hopefully we'll have some spare cash soon, and it won't be such an issue!

yes it is mainly royal icing flowers and basketweave.

Can you just purchase the course book and teach yourself the flowers you dont know?

They won't sell the kit seperately - I asked! I'll look on line for something
Thanks

Purchasing the books separately is what I did too. I bet you could find it online and have it shipped to you. It sounds like with the experience you have, this would be very helpful to you and you would pick the things up in the book with no problems. I did end up taking both courses, but it was nice to have the books ahead of time and practice with them myself. And of course being on cc and learning tips, ideas, etc. has been extremely helpful!
