you can make them on wires and wire them together in sections so that there isn't alot of weight on the top.
You can make them on toothpicks and insert them into the cake.
You can attach with a stiff buttercream and they should stay put, unless its really hot where you are this shouldn't be a problem
What about a posy pick it can actually go into the cake. I work mainly with fondant and use them quite a bit I can't see why they wouldn't work with buttercream.
PEG 818 pretty much covered it. The wire spray is more time consuming, but works really well. The toothpicks are easier, but don't make the spray look as put together unless you fill it in with leaves. RI is another choice, but might work as well with BC.
I'm doing my first wedding cake and the bride wants the fondant roses to cascade down the side of each of the tiers. What is the best way to attach them to the buttercream and have them stick. I'm afraid they may slide down the side.
