Fondant/gumpaste Class Worth While??

I just finished course 3...(check out my cake in my pics- yeah me!!) AND...I was thinking about going straight in to fondant/gumpaste or maybe take a break for about a month to practice what I've learned so far. Anyone have advice on that? And have you used what you learned in that class much?? Thanks!
yes I loved that course, you learn some great flowers (daisies, and my fav- carnations, and a couple others). Plus the kit is really useful, there is some cool tools in it that I still use all the time. It is an easy class, if you are familiar with the fondant it will be easy for you, it is just mostly other techniques and new ideas, not quite as structured. If you are very experienced it may be a waste of your time.
I just started the class on Aug 2nd. The first day was review of the past classes. It will be very interesting because I am the only person that signed up for the class. I don't know how to feel... i will have the teacher's attention all to myself. I am going to miss seeing everyone else's work to check my progress. This week I have to bake a cake for class and decorate it. I am looking foward to it, I hope to learn a lot . The finale cakes all look beautiful.

I had my wilton course 2 all to myself to after the 1st class...there was 4 that signed up...3 showed up 1st night...only me the next 3 weeks of the class...it was really good to have one on one w/the instructor
Definitely take the fondant/gumpaste class. You will be very satisfied and excited with what you learn that you can do with these cake mediums.
Don't stress about the fact that you will be the only one in the class. In fact, take advantage of it because having a "private lesson" will definitely benefit you in the long run. You can always post what you do in the class here on CC and we can give you all of the feed back and more, than what you would receive from the other students in class. We are here to support you!
Have a great time in class! ![]()
letmebeudesigner and liz THANKS for the encouragement. It will be cool to have the one on one attention. I just hope we can keep on task. I am excited about the next class. Only my second fondant cake. The last one I made fell apart during transportation (two tier w/ yellow flowers in pics).
I will post my pic of the cake!
Lucky you! I have signed up for this class 3 times and they will not have it if there are not at least 4 students. She said the next class might be in Nov!!I took the first 3 classes last year.I already bought all of my supplies[the kit and several other things the book suggested] I also bought the class book, I think I will just teach myself.LOL
Sorry about having to wait so long to take the class Patticake. I also thought about teaching myself. I was going to buy the book from Hobby Lobby with a coupon and then just have some fun. I am kicking myself because I thought that I didn't have to buy the kit... SURPRISE.. yes I do because I don't have all of the tools.
WHERE was I in June... at the wilton tent sale!!!! I didn't realize that I was going to take the class until now!! I could have save A TON of money!!!
Oh well there's always the tent sale of 2008!!1
I am taking fondant/gumpaste course starting wednesday....i cant wait...already taken course 1 and 2....i was going to take course 3 and fondant/gumpaste this month but i think that is to much for me in one month w/the kids just starting school this month...
I don't know if it was just my instructor or the class but I didn't find the class worth it. We never stayed the entire class and didn't really do all that much. The flowers were great to learn, but there were only a few of them and the rest of the time was a review. I felt like I was teaching the teacher during some of it. I guess I was just expecting more.
