will torting a 11x15 sheet cake cause a disaster?

i was thinking of torting it once to give it a little more height and add a layer of filling.
also, will this increase the amount of servings?

you guys are all such a great help-

It will increase the number of servings a little.

It is easy to do.......I use the wilton leveler and it does great for me. The tricky part is having something large enough to lift up the top torted layer. I have a huge cake lifter (my mother got it for me at a yardsale, brand new!!) and it does great, so maybe you could try a cookie sheet or somthing.

Good Luck!!

I always tort my cakes, including the large sheet cakes.

Get an AGBAY cake leveler, that wilton one is EVIL!!!!!!!!!! Just spend the money and don't look back!

I've never heard of a cake lifter, sounds cool.

I just reieved my new AGBAY leveler and I love, love, love it!!! I'm just looking for stuff to torte. I hated the Wilton leveler, It doesn't go staight through, you end up with waves.

What is a cake lifter?? Sounds easier than a cake board.

I'm not too fond of the wilton leveler, but it's all I have. Hmm....never heard of agbay-might have to check it out.

This cake lifter looks like a huge spatula, w/o the handle. It's really neat.

Here is the link for the agbay leveler.
http://www.agbayproducts.com/ They even have a video on the site so you can see it in action. I talked to the owner when I ordered she is very nice, and her husband is very handy to invent such a great tool! It's a little expensive but worth every penny.

Now I never torte. I just bake 2 cakes & put the filling
in between. I do measure the batter in a one cup measuring cup to be exact.
