I am making a Three tier cake this week, Three different flavors, the bottom tier being chocolate with chocolate-hazelnut buttercream, my dilemma- the bride wants an all over white appearance. She does not want Marzipan, only fondant. Would I be ok with a double layer of white fondant? Any suggestions greatlt appreciated!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I often do chocolate wedding cakes. I cover the cake in a thin layer of chocolate buttercream the apply the white fondant and it's never shown through yet.

Are you in the UK by any chance? Theres not many other countries who tend to use marzipan under fondant the same as we do?

I always cover my cakes in buttercream also before I put the fondant on, to make sure the color is uniform. I have never had the issue of cake showing through. Good luck to you!

I am in the US, however, my family is from Norway and it is practically a staple. icon_lol.gif
