Hi all,

My family is finally taking my hobby and passion for cakes seriously. While I only bake for family and close friends I am always trying something which you all inspire.

They have decide to buy me a small refigerator or freezer for my cakes. (Their so sweet but I have a whole shelf for my frosting so they are trying to get me out of theirs.)

My question is which will be better a refrigerator or the freezer?

Thanks for the advise

I personally have both a small fridge and a small freezer picked up both for under $100 each. But my favorite is the freezer

While an extra fridge would be nice, I couldn't do without my extra freezer. (DH got tired of the freezer being full of cakes and butter, and it annoyed him so much he bought me another one, lol icon_lol.gif ). I am so much more efficient when I can bake and freeze ahead of time and not have to worry about space.

freezer would be my first choice too. I would like having a fridge, but more freezer space is top priority.

I bought an extra frig and love it, but, I would still like to have an extra freezer just as much. Well, I guess another freezer, we have a chest freezer in addition to the 2 refrigerators.... I think Im out of space though (dont know that I could talk DH into that). icon_biggrin.gif

take them out of shell, freeze in ice cube tray, pop into zip lock bags. You can freeze whole or separate. If you freeze whole best to scramble a bit and add a little salt. Be sure to let them come to room temp. before using (after you defrost). 2 oz. equals one lg. egg.

I had to replace my chest freezer that broke after only 6 months. I was going to buy a small one 7 cubic. but after finding out i can freeze butter, eggs and of course cake.. I think I need to rethink the size of freezer I am going to buy!!

What size freezer do you have??

Im sorry, I am still new and very excited but when you freeze butter & buttercream is it the same procedure to thaw. Remove from the Freezer to the refrigerator over night and then on the counter for 1 hour before using?
