When using a foam roller do you put it directly on the buttercream or do you put viva on top of the buttercream.

Directly onto the buttercream. Just make sure the icing is well crusted first or the roller will give it a texture rather than smooth it.

I use the roller to texture things likefootballs, and basketballs, I do wet it slightly to give that look of leather.

I'm so excited I found the roller, although it's very small like maybe 3 inches. It's the only one I found at this small Japanese hardware store.

I can't wait to try it! I need something that helps reduce the smoothing time! Seems to be my biggest hang up.

Hi Stephanie. CC member (forgot name, sorry) recommends using a regular paint roller to smooth crusted BC icing. Says it works great, doesn't make dents in the icing like a regular wooden/marble one. Janice
