My BGF gave me a jar of walnut oil (from France! Oh La La!!! icon_wink.gif ) and now I am wondering if I can use it in any of my baking. The label says good for "pasta dishes, pork, poultry and beef" and that it "imparts a distinct nutty flavor". And after smelling it, I agree that it smells nutty.

I was thinking that I could use it in baked goods that had nuts in them already, so a nutty flavor, not such a bad thing. I'm just not sure how much and if any of you had ever used it before.

I have a tasty bread machine recipe for walnut bread. It's slightly sweet, and just divine. But that's the only thing I use my walnut oil in, and my bottle has lasted me for years now. icon_wink.gif

I replace 1/2 the oil in my carrot cake recipe (homemade) with the walnut oil. Taste your walnut oil before using because it goes rancid fast. Keep in a cool dark place. I keep in the frig. If it has a light taste you may want to use it straight in your recipe. Good walnut oil tastes like the essence of pure walnuts without the bitterness.
