I saw a post on here from Charm City Cakes about the Preval Spray Gun that Duff uses. It looks like a great idea, and I could really use one for a cake I'm doing next week. I went to both Lowe's and Home Depot, and neither one had it. I looked in the paint dept both places, and asked the salesperson. They hadn't even heard of it.

Where else should I look? Or does someone know of a place in the Kansas City area that has them? I found the Preval website, but it doesn't have a list of places to buy them.

Thanks!

Try this link.
Mine just arrived last week and I haven't tried it yet. It is simply a can of pressurized air, like an empty can of spray paint, and a plastic container for the color. Not sure If I am going to like it but won't know unless I give it a try.

Thanks for the link and for suggesting ebay. If I can't find them locally, I'll just have to order them online. I did just email Preval, so if they're sold here in Kansas City hopefully they'll let me know.

I was in Michael's, recently and looked at some spray guns with the pressurized cans. they were kept under lock and key. Don't know the brand though.

I just bought mine at Home Depot for $3.98. The saleperson said he had never sold one. When I called the person who answers the phone said they didn't carry them but when she transfered the call to paint the salesperson said they had them. I haven't used it yet.

$3.98? Did that include the container for the paint and the nozzle? That's a heck of a great price if it did.

I heard Duff say they had them at Home Depot, that's what I get for not wanting to drive there. I ordered it on line and paid $15.00 for 2 pressurized cans, the container and the nozzle. icon_sad.gif

I'm so mad that my Home Depot didn't have it! Maybe I'll try a few others in the area. For those of you who have them, definitely let us know how you like them when you try them!

ASupergirl - Duff used the Preval to "paint" a cake silver. He filled the bottle with a luster dust mixture, I think it was mixed with vodka. I don't have an airbrush, and this seems like a great cheap alternative.

I have used lustre dust and vodka in my airbrush and it clogged a few times. I keep wanting to try the Preval gun, but I keep forgetting to go look for it! icon_smile.gif

I just received an email back from Preval with a list of some of their national suppliers. The Preval Spray Gun is sold at: Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Sherwin Williams, True Value, Menard's, Do It Best, Napa Autoparts, Harbor Freight Tools, Carquest (w/body shop supplies), O'Reilly Auto (w/body shop supplies), Handy Hardware, Boater's World, Finishmaster Auto Body Supply, Tandy Leather Stores, www.toolzoneonline.com and www.hardwarestore.com

They said it's carried at most paint decorating and wallpaper stores, marine stores and auto body paint suppliers. They also gave me the SKU for some of the stores, and when I called Home Depot with the SKU they said they have them in stock. So I'll be making a trip to Home Depot today!

Has anyone tried it yet?

ASupergirl, sorry, I just saw your post asking for the sku numbers. Here they are:
Home Depot: 711-624 & 711-632
Sherwin Williams: 154 3164 & 154 4659
Menard's: 561-4873 & 561-4886
Napa Auto: 770-5030 & 770-5031
Ace Hardware: 17738 &17736
True Value: 2653222 & 265348
Do It Best: 794091 & 794117
Harbor Freight Tools: 94084 & 94085

Before I had the sku numbers I went to Home Depot and noone knew what I was talking about. Once I had the SKU I called and they said they had them in stock. I ended up going to Sherwin Williams to buy one though because they were closer. The guy that emailed me from Preval also said that if these places don't have any in stock, they can probably get them in a day or 2.

Hope this helps!
