I have been decorating for over a year now. i'm still learning. 98% of the cakes i've done have been for family and i have not charged. I have no idea what's fair in price and what's not. So mom hooked me up w/a 3 cakes her cousin needed this wknd. She wants
1-plain w/BC icing, no designs, 1-all chocolate cake- choco mousse filling and choco bc or ganache, no designs, and one vanilla w/pinapple filling covered in BC, no designs.
Do you think $50 for these 3 cakes is too much? My sister seems to think it's too steep. I don't know. Around my job in NYC they charge almost 20 per 8 inch cakes. i don't know in NJ.

thanks,
kat

Personally, I dont think that $50 is enough. I would charge a total of $85 for all three. Maybe even $90, and I livein the middle of nowhere

How much are the ingredients going to cost you? I'd guess at least close to the $50 you're thinking of charging. I'd say you aren't charging enough and I'm really in the sticks.
