Has anyone made fondant other than the mmf? I like the mmf but I don't like the way it turns out on the cake, especially after being colored. It doesn't have a smooth finish on it. Any input would be appreciated. What other recipes do you use? Does it taste good?

TIA!!!

Here is a link to one that many people use. I have used it but after trying many home made recipes and feeling they would save money I have come to the conclusion that if you want a really foolproof fondant, buy ready made. The best brand I have found for consistency and good flavor is Fondx brand. It is expensive but as the saying goes "You get what you pay for" and in this case I think that is true. It is an excellent fondant.
Here is the link to Diasy's fondant recipe.

I did try one once and it turned out horrible! Not the right consistency at all! The mmf has been working for me.

I've made rolled buttercream, white chocolate fondant, and Toba Garrett's fondant recipe. All very YUMMY but not so easy to work with - I'm still searching for a good recipe. I too have tried MMF but I just don't love it as much as everyone else - maybe it will grow on me.....

I agree with ShirleyW, if you want something that works really well buy ready made. Wilton has a recipe for home made that doesn't taste too bad but I didn't think it was as good to work with as ready made.
