You can apply it dry with a big fluffy paintbrush or mix it with vodka and lemon extract and apply it with an airbrush if you have one. I use the airbrush. Goes very quickly and lots of fun. Any of the cakes in my gallery that fondant covered or I've used any fondant pieces in the design are always airbrushed with Super Pearl.

Hope that helps some.

I use my airbrush also, like the look of it, just make sure that you have airbrush cleaner and use it right away!!

lol

I made the mistake of letting my pearl dust dry in the airbrush cup...NEVER AGAIN!

I am used to cleaning my airbrush at the end of the day when I clean up, so it has over night to dry..lol

I bought a big fluffy loose powder brush from Wal Mart. It does great for getting good covereage on fondant.

I have problems applying it w/a brush. i seem to put a lot in just one spot. how can i change that? I also bought a make-up brush from the dollar store. It's pretty big, i have also tried with small ones. unless it's a small flower or cameo it doesn't look good on my cakes.

thanks!

I think I read somewhere here that you can use a spray bottle or mister?

I have an airbrush, but for that i usually just get out my big fluffy blush brush that I keep for that. It's like applying makeup-just make sure that you tap off the extra, or tap the end in the lid before you appy it, then you won't get the clumpy spots. I do that even when I'm doing small areas, and it works great!

can't say for sure, but it does a fair amount. If you're doing a lot, you might need more than one. I buy my pearl dust in bulk but the rest I get in the little containers.

I think it really depends on how heavy you put it on. That's why I like to use it in the airbrush...a little goes a long way when it is mixed with vodka. But if you are dry brushing it on, you could go through it pretty quickly. I agree with the earlier post from sugarnut...keep tapping to get the excess off when dry brushing. It is also going to depend on the finished look you are going for.

First of all, you will need a LOT of Pearl Dust..more than one bottle..
I do not like applying it dry w/ a big brush on big areas because some of the Pearl dust it goes in the air and some of it you will enhale and stays in your nostrils..It is not toxic , but just comfortable. What I do, I use plain Vodka to moisten the area, wait a few minutes when it almost dry, then I apply the dry Pearl dust. It will take soooo much Pearl Dust to make a paint. Applying it dry goes a longer way than paint
