I have an amazing cholate cake recipe, but it is not sturdy enough to remove it from the pan and stack. Anyone out there know a great tasting chocolate cake recipe that holds up well?? (I checked the recipe forum, but there are so many choc cakes, and I don't know which are stackable....)

The Darn Good Chocolate Cake is about as sturdy as they get. It's very dense and yummy. Some people might think it's a bit rich though.

Heres one given by redsoxgirl.. I used it on the cake below. I baked one batch in a 8x8 square pan x's 3.. And I stacked them.. I did however, freeze them a bit so that I made sure they were not going to break.. This recipe is wonderful.. I already made it a few weeks back to taste it.. it's the bomb!!!

this is the only chocolate recipe i'll use. everyone Raves about it. it is dense and moist and yummy : ) .... you can't screw it up, I PROMISE! and it is soooo easy to make.

INGREDIENTS:

* 2 cups white sugar
* 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 eggs
* 1 cup milk
* 1/2 cup vegetable oil
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1 cup boiling water

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two nine inch round pans.
2. In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, mix for 2 minutes on medium speed of mixer. Stir in the boiling water last. Batter will be thin. Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until the cake tests done with a toothpick.

i use a doctored devil's food cake mix for my chocolate kahlua cake. everyone loves it and says that it is the best cake they've ever had. its really dense and moist. my hubby says it reminds him of brownies.

1 box packaged devil's food cake mix (i use duncan hines because they don't add any pudding to their mix)
1 5.9 oz. instant pudding, chocolate
3/4 cups kahlua
3/4 cups vegtable oil
3/4 cups water
4 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
