Ok, so I mixed up some icing and chocolate cake and made nice little balls with the mixture and am ready to proceed with dipping in chocolate.... here is the question: Should I let them sit for a bit before dipping them ro can I go ahead and do it right away?

Thanks!

I would freeze them a bit so they are easier to dip.

Freezing is a good idea, or you can let them sit out a bit so the surface of them dries a little.

I usually throw them in the freezer for about 5 minutes. They seem to hold shape better. I have done them right away. but seemed to have a little bit more trouble. It can be done though.
