Come on Melvira, fess up...that picture you posted is really of an actual shirt collar and pocket?!!!
Ok, now I'm cracking up!! It's so funny that you said that because I was just coming on here to say I called my mom to send her the pic and see what she thought. She is my toughest critic, only because we do that for each other, we don't spare feelings, we come right out and say, "That is NOT your best work... try this...". SO anyway, I send her the pic and say, this is only the collar and pocket, but do you think this is the way to go? (She saw some of the worse ideas...) she said, "What is it?" I said, "The collar and pocket."
Mom: "I KNOW that, but what IS it?"
Me: "Marshmallow fondant."
Mom: "Yah, right, so are you just going to use actual fabric on the cake? They can't eat that."
Me: "No, I'm going to use this fondant. This is painted fondant."
Mom: *sigh like explaining something to a 2 year old* "Melissa... I can SEE the stitching on the collar."
Me: "Yah mom, because I used a fondant tool to make it look like stitching!"
Mom: quiet...quiet...quiet..."Really?"
Me: "Yes, I swear. It's fondant."
Mom: "Wow... that's incredible."
Is she the cutest or what? But she was just waiting for me to say, "Haha, I'm kidding, it's fabric!" I can't wait to get it done and see if it looks this good when it's all together!! I am so excited now!! Yay!!
Hey all, the cake it done, had some roadblocks, but I blazed right through them and got it done. I think it turned out pretty well!! Gonna start a new thread for it called "Retirement Flannel"!
