I tried other forums for this question but came up empty. Has anyone tried to use shredded tinted coconut? Do you think this would work. Here is my idea, please let me know if I am headed for a disaster! Ok, so I was thinking to use the doll cake pan and using the pirouette cookies all around it to look like a hut(the top) and then I was going to use melted candy to coat then sprinkle heavey shredded coconut all over to stick to make a thatch. Could this work? Any suggestions would be great.[/list]

Your idea sounds like it would work. A thought I had might be to use shredded wheat cereal instead of the coconut. Just a thought. Let us know how it turns out.

I've only had one experience with shredded coconut, and it was when my DD made her cake for a cake show. It was really messy. Of course, that could be because she's 7. You can see the cake in my gallery. She had a heck of a time getting it to stick to her BC, and it just kept falling off the cake.

I don't know that it would go with the look of your cake, but I used my Fun Factory to make the roof on my Noah's Ark cake.

I do like the shredded wheat idea. I did that for a gingerbread house once.

I hope somebody more experienced has some advice! icon_smile.gif
