Hi,
I'm looking at buying a rose leaf veiner because I need some leaves larger than the 1.25" cutter I have (Wilton).

Do you have to use a cutter when you use the 2-piece veiner? Can you just edge around the veiner when you have it closed to make the leaf?

Please help if you can! I've got 2 weeks to make some leaves.

Thanks!

I'm just learning, but I'll tell you my experience and give you a bump icon_biggrin.gif . I really prefer to use a cutter first - I feel like the edges are cleaner. I have cut around the edges of a veiner to make an anthurium, which is a thicker leaf with a smooth edge. I ran my fingers around the edges of the veiner while the paste was in the veiner to make a distinct outline of the shape, removed the textured paste from the veiner and then cut out the shape. We actually did this technique in a class with Nicholas Lodge, and it worked. But, it is much more time consuming and much less accurate than using a cutter. If you have lots to make, I would order a cutter today!

I agree get a cutter, they aren't that expensive and you will be happier with the results.

Thank you!!! for the advice.

I actually found a 3-piece cutter set at cakedeco.com that has a 2.75" one - $3.95. They also had a 2.75" veiner!

So I think I'm set and appreciate your input!! thumbs_up.gif
