Can I just ask....

For a bottom cake of 2 layers I have decided to do an orange cake filled with chocolate ganache filling (saw the idea on CC) Can I just ask....

I will be icing this cake with a white fondant so don't want any bleeding of the chocolate onto the icing.... will it be better to build a dam with buttercream (the same buttercream I crumb coat with?) to contain the ganache? sorry if this is a daft question but I am very much a novice and it's a special cake for my daughter (who has Aspergers) 13th Birthday!

Again any advice greatly recieved!

Anne

I would use the BC as a dam, I find it keeps me from having bulges or bleeds! Good luck! Your cake sounds yummy!!!

I would put the dam there just to be on the safe side. Not a daft question at all.
