How Do I Cover A Tall Turret/tower With Mmf?

The turrets for the castle cake I am making will be about 8-10 inches tall and I want to cover them in MMF. I am assuming that is too tall to just drape it over the top and smoothe it over the sides. Should I do it in halves? Would it be easier to cover two 4-inch pieces and then stack them? If so, what is the best way to make the seam less visible? I will be using a brick impression mat on them, so it wouldn't be a huge deal to have lines, but I would like to minimize the "layered" look if possible.
I am now finished rambling
cover them before you stand them up.........roll out a rectangular piece and cut to the size you need making sure it goes completely around the tube............lay the tube on top of it and roll it up around the tube......when you get to where the two sides meet.......cut it to make sure you have JUST ENOUGH mmf to come together and not too much excess.......then you can put a little crisco on your finger and rub the seem, this will minimize the look of it..........then when you stand it up, put the seem to the back!
You are brilliant!! Thank you! It seems so obvious now that you explained it, but I never would have thought of it myself.![]()
