Someone in one of my Wilton classes used them -- I don't know about the taste, but they are VERY yellow, so don't use them if you want white-white icing or if you want to color it -- the girl who used it got green when she tried to color hers blue.

They taste great, but my bc comes out light ivory with them. When making a double batch, I use 1 butter and 1 original. White-white can only be done with original and butter flavoring.

Butter Crisco is my standard, however.

As long as you are coloring your icing the slight yellow should not hurt, YOU can mix the shortnings half and half, and not be as yellow. The butter crisco does give a butter taste. Good Luck with your cake.
