Checkered Pattern On Fondant.

Im new at fondant. But I need to know how to make a checkerd pattern like in the picture, same colors. Can you paint on fondant? I know the wilton colors take forever to dry. i dont want it to look raised, like i made little squares and put them on the cake. Please help

I would imagine you would or could dye some fondant black and cut it out and do it that way, OR you could paint them on (which is what it looks like a little there), but with what I don't know.

I prefer to color fondant with powder colors mixed with vodka or lemon extract ( like the luster dust powders). Just be carefull not to give to much liquid to the powder, as the intensity will not be as good ( the same as you would use water-colors).

It looks like they used stamps. Wiltonsells them in lost of shapes and sizes!

Oh my gosh! i didnt think about stamps. Thanks for the great ideas. Micheals has lots of stamp I could use on different cakes. Thanks
