Everytime I use the "hair tip" for the clay gun, as the gumpaste or fondant is coming out of the end, it quickly adhers to itself so I can't get the strings apart. If I use pwd. sugar to keep it apart, it is tougher to get out of the gun. What am I doing wrong. I do have the icky clay gun that kills your hands but the different gun won't fix my problem. I have to make the "twigs" like for a bird's nest and want the strings separate.
Any advice?

Try putting it in cornstarch as its coming out. It may help. I also use crisco on my gumpaste to make it go through easier.

thanks, I'll try the cornstarch. I also use the crisco, I figured that was why it was sticking to itself when it came out.

You may have already tried this, but when you push the plunger, hold the gun vertically so that the strings come straight down. Then use your fingers to pull each separate strand off the gun.

I would probably rub a bit of crisco onto the disc rather than cornstarch in this case, to keep the fondant pliable and moving easily out of the gun.

Good luck!
