Well I decided to make cake balls for a small family dinner next weekend and had a few questions regarding them....

I keep seeing that some people use creamer while others use frosting and wasnt sure which one was better?

Also after I dip them in chocolate do I put them back into the freezer, fridge, or leave them out? Because I keep reading that they should be served cool, but then I read that they should not be placed back in the fridge after dipping them in chocolate.

So confused... icon_redface.gif

I'm sure you guys know! icon_wink.gif

I've used both creamer and frosting. It all depends on how much flavor you want in you cake balls. Most of the time, for me, creamers don't give enough flavor, but then again some of the frostings don't either. It is a totally "wing-it" kind of thing. As for the after, I let them cool somewhere dark and won't be disturbed. I then keep them in the fridge until serving. While eating, if they get warm, I stick them back into the fridge to firm up again. HTH.

My favorite way to make them is to use creamer. Hazelnut is my favorite flavor. There are so many different flavors you could try. Be sure to only add enough creamer to bind the cake, otherwise it will end up mushy. I also drizzle with chocolate not dip. There is a pic in my photos if you would like to see how they turned out for me. I'm a very bad photographer so keep in mind my pics aren't the greatest. I leave mine in the fridge I like them cold. I don't freeze before or after putting the chocolate on. I think freezing is recommended for dipping so that its a little easier to handle the cake ball.

I have put them in the fridge and have frozen them.

If you freeze them be sure to take them out a few hours before serving them so the condensation can dry. I've never had any problems either way..
