I have some conflicting information on attaching fondant to fondant. I am making a cake that I am covering in MMF, then adding decorations made from the MMF. Some places tell you not to use piping gel or water. One place said to make a paste out of Tylose powder, but I can't remember where I read about it. Would love to hear from some experience decorators and what they use with great success.
Thanks! Sandi
My favorite thing to use is gum glue. Break off a small piece (size of a marble) of ready made gumpaste and add it to a couple Tbsp of water and let dissolve. You can also thin some of the fondant with water and use it - 1 oz fondant (1 1/2 inch ball) thinned with 1/4 tsp of water. Good luck!
I've used water with meringue powder mixed in... maybe 2 tbs to 1 tsp
I am with the majority. The slightest bit of water works just fine. For larger pieces I do like to use the "fondant" glue made from a small piece of fondant or gumpaste dissolved in water. Get it to the consistency of "elmer's" glue and it works great!
I have used vanilla, piping gel and gum glue. I don't think any of them are really better than any of the others. The key is just to use a small amount of it.
