Attaching Sugar Cubes To Fondant

Okay, here is my millionth post with yet another question about the castle cake I am making for my daughter's 4th birthday (thankfully I don't have to start it until next week and I learned the hard way in the past to plan ahead!). I think I am going to use sugar cubes for the railing on the castle. What is the best way to attach them to the fondant? They will essentially be right on the top edge of each layer. I want to make sure they don't move, but I am wondering if corn syrup or royal icing or buttercrem would cause the bottoms to dissolve a little bit???? ![]()
Use Royal Icing, it wont break down the Fondant or sugar cubes at all and will make for a very secure hold.

Can't help with the sugarcube question, but how about using white chiclets or marshmallows instead? For my 1st and only attempt so far at a castle cake, I just used one of the decorative cuuters ond 'glued' strips of fondant to the edges for the purpose that you are trying to acquire.HTH
