Ok, I just got my airbrush gun today and already have a use for it, except I'm finding I'm really clumsy with it. Wondering if you guys could give me some tips to get me going.

I'm working on 200 heart shaped cookies which I have already outlined with royal icing using a #2 tip. I wanted to airbrush over the royal icing w/luster dust. I'm using the fineline tip (.30 mm) - but I'm getting crazy results - with none being a fineline! I'm getting splatters, large mists, and bubbles. icon_cry.gif

I wanted to keep working on these cookies tonight - but I can't find any on-line help and the stores are all closed. Is anyone else up tonight that can help me out. Thank you!! icon_smile.gif

You have to make sure that your luster dust mix it thin enough. With the tip being thin it takes a very liquidy mixture. Also, your brush maybe clogged. Completely clean it well. Do you have the cleaner? You may have also bent the tip. It is very delicate. Once it is bent, you'll have to replace it. I always keep an extra, just in case. I would make you a pattern to go in the center of the heart, to help from overspray getting in the center of your cookie, since you are just wanting to spray the outline. I hope this helps some.

Make sure you stay close to the cookie as well. The more you pull back away from it, the bigger spray area you will cover.

Here's tip that I learned here a few months ago...if you don't have the cleaner stuff for it, use WINDEX (and then tons of hot water), but it works just as good (if not better) and a lot cheaper. That's what I use all the time now.

Good luck!
