I love your roses... they are gorgeous! And the colors are spectacular. If I were going to give constructive criticism... not at all to take away from the amazing job you did, I would perhaps say to bring the roses just a little more forward instead of going out to the sides. Just because they are SO nice, and you don't get to really appreciate them from the front like you'd want to! Excellent work though, really!!

First off let me say how beautiful the pale pink roses are and you did a wonderful job. One of my suggestions would be to thin the petals of your roses more. Roll them out really thin and then with the ball tool thin the edges even more. Make sure your cone is covered with the first petal you use to wrap it with. You should not really see the cone. You are off to a wonderful start ...I love the pale pink...

Keep on decorating.... thumbs_up.gif

My instructor also told me the thinner the petals the more real roses will look but i don't know for myself I have never done a fondant rose yet

Wow, thank you all so very much for the compliments. And the suggestion about moving the roses is a great idea, I see what you mean and I agree. Next time I will take special care to pull them forward and in view more. Thank you also for the tip on making the roses. I was not aware that the center was to be completly covered and will make more of an effort to thin the edges of the roses. Should I do that with the roller or can I thin them with the ball tool or would the ball tool distort the petals too much by thinning them that way? Should the ball tool be used for just curving the petals?Again thank you very much and look forward to more input. Cheffie icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I'll trade ya pics...I'll say yours is mine, if you will say mine is yours icon_wink.gif (see below) Everytime I tried making the fondant rose, it ended up smooshed. My roses were horrible - so I trashed them. I think your roses are beautiful, they just make me think of a spring morning, the roses being touched w/ a kiss of blush, and being in bloom.

I really love this cake, especially your color choices - but -

I think the pillars are a little too tall.

Otherwise, you did a wonderful job.

I agree about the pillars, they were substitutes. I didnt get the kit for class, pillars are supposed to be 7 inches these are like 12 INCHES!! these are what I had laying around the house and didnt want to spend the money right now for the little ones.It makes the cake quite tall huh hehe. I really enjoyed making the roses, they were not as hard as I had thought they would be, just time consuming.Thank you Cheffie icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif
