I think a flower nail would be plenty just put one in the center of the cake..

Agree one flower nail would do the trick. The nice thing about purchasing the flower nail is there are many other uses for it. Not sure what other uses there are for a heating core (?).

I would think 1.....but i might use 2 just to be safe.

I tried to use a heating core before....it was confusing ha ha

Good luck

I always like to use 2 nails with that big of a cake, just to be on the safe side. The nails are really cheap so it is worth it!

I always use ONE flower nail in a 12 inch cake. Seems to work fine.....but I also use the bake even strips with it too.

I have used both but prefer the flower nail. For large pans 12in and up I would use 2 nails.

tyty, when you use two nails how do you decide where to put them? I have tried it before with a sheet cake and placed them in the centre line at about thirds. That sounds totally wrong, but maybe you know what I mean. And what about rounds? icon_confused.gif

I use neither .... even in my 16" round and my 14x22 rectangle. I grease-only-no-flour, 325 degrees, baking strips. No problems.
