Here you go all of you marketing geniuses! I've done a little searching and found a site with some known, and some obscure holidays, all of which could be a great reason for someone to buy a cake (if they need an excuse, LOL). Now there's no reason to wait for a birthday or anniversary! icon_lol.gif

So many reasons to drop off a little cake, plate of cookies, or small cookie bouquet! And HEY! Oct 14th is National Dessert Day! Who Knew?! icon_razz.gif

I plan on making a little cookie bouquet for a dear friend of mine on October 1st, for International Day of Older People (she is 2 weeks older than me, LOL!) I found that one listed at www.123greetings.com, they have a listing down the right side of the page of daily 'holidays'.

(guess who is playing on the computer to avoid folding laundry tonight??)

What a neat site! My anniversary is Let them Eat Cake day - who knew? Fitting, and I didn't even know it! Thanks for sharing! Some people need an excuse for cake, I'm not one of those people, but I could steer them here! LOL

kats - I think you should ALWAYS get 2 cakes for your birthday! icon_biggrin.gif

I wonder if they were being sarcastic when they added 'National Sarcastic Month'? icon_biggrin.gif

OK!! NOW, I'm ticked off!! My daughter gets National Chocolate Day, and I get National Apricot Day?? Something NOT right about that. How about this? She also gets 'National Dessert Month' and never mind about 'National Cookie Month'. Guess what? I get 'National Soup Month'. WooHoo!! Just checked again. I also get 'Oatmeal Month'. My month is sooo lame!! Can I trade with somebody?? icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Hey, if you need even more excuses check out:

www.brownielocks.com

(click on bizarre holidays at the bottom of the page to get to the month you want).

They list everything by Day, by week and by month- So essentially not one of the 365 days is not celebrating something!!! My birthday is "Laugh and Get Rich Day"!

I love all the fun "holidays" that we didn't even know existed! icon_biggrin.gif Sometimes at work, I will print out the list of special days and do little fun things for my staff.

August was national Chocolate chip day. I got chocolate chip cookies for everybody (plus icing to dip them in!). I also looked up the history of the chocolate chip and passed that around along with the cookies. Everyone thought it was fun!

I was too busy to do any this month. It sounds like there are some good days, so I need to look them up!!

They missed one of the month things on that site though, April is also Month of the Military Child. The military child also has a flower, the dandilion. icon_lol.gif

I've got some really lame monthly stuff - but here's how lame my daily birthday stuff is!

14- National Cream-filled Donut Day
14- National D.A.R.E. Day (Second Thursday In September)
14- National Day of the Working Parent (Second Thursday In September)
14- National Pet Memorial Day

Okay now the cream-filled donut is okay - but I don't like donuts! But day of the working parent and national pet memorial? Yeah that sounds like fun........
