Hi. I have two cake pans (9x13 and 11x15) and I can't remember how much batter I should use in them. Could someone please give me this information or tell me where I can find it? Thanks so much...

I can't tell you the cup amount but the 9"X13" takes 1 cake mix and the 11"X15" takes 2 cake mixes. Average cake mix makes about 5-7 cups I think is what it is.

Well, you can get by with using just one cake mix/batch for a 9x13, but it actually takes more cups than two 8" circle pans. You just end up with a shorter cake that way.

Let me look it up and I'll be right back (if it isn't answered already).

I usually make two batches of icing at once. One batch is about three cups. I end up having about a quarter of it left after icing and borders.

Ok, I've done some searching. For an 11x15 you need two batches/mixes. For a 9x13, to get the same height, you would need 1.5 batches/mixes.

I know for my cakes taht tend to be denser, I use a double batch in a 9x13 and it rises to JUST above the cake pan.

I don't measure I use 2 cake mixes for the 9X13, I have left overs but just make cupcakes or a few 3 inch. I fill the pan 2/3 full. You will probably use both boxes for the 11X15. Just trim the excess while it's still in the pan after cooling for 10 min.

I have a Wilton 11X15 pan, and the insert says it takes 15 cups. I use 2 doctored mixes.

Thanks to everyone for all your advice and tips. I have a cake due for Friday morning and my client would like a single layer 11x15. I'll just double the batch of batter. The cake will be a wilton butter cake recipe cake. Again... thanks so much!
