I am making a castle cake for my daughter's 4th birthday. I have everything figured out except how to do the railing (I'm sure there is a fancier, more official name for it). One of the cakes in the Fairy Tale contest (on page 2 o f the cotest, 5th row down, 1st cake on the left) has exactly the kind of railing I want to do - it is kind of triangley and jagged. Anyone have any advice??? Thanks.

I'm just starting out. So I can't help much. Couldn't you make it out of Royal Icinng?

Thanks Krysoco, that's one of the methods I am considering. The picture looks like it is fondant cut in some fancy magical way, but in a pinch I could try making something with royal icing.

I'll bet that railing was cut out with some sort of roller. It's either fondant, gumpaste or a mix of both. Indented with something...don't know what. HTH!
