I'm trying to slowly (but proficiently) work my way into selling, I have the recipes, and I'm pretty well stocked on the main ingredients, but now I'm interested in buying caking boxes and boards.
I'm really interested in starting with cookies, cupcakes, and other desserts before I dive into cake decorating (a task I have no real experience at), so I can build up a customer base to gradually show my practice cakes to.
With that being said, would I still purchase "cake" boxes to deliver cookies, cupcakes, and other desserts in? I always have such a difficult time, because I don't own anything disposable yet, and always have to get my personal serving dishes back from the customer!
Any suggestions as to what I should purchase and where?
Thanks!
yes, get disposable boards and boxes. They make pie boxes that are only about 2 inches high instead of 5 like for cakes, but the cake ones work great for cupcakes and pie boxes are great for pies or cookies. For cupcakes I always use the regular boards, and put a dab of icing on the bottom of the cupcakes after I've arranged them so they don't slide around the box. They make disposable pie pans, and you can just use wax paper squares between your cookies so they don't stick together and lay then sitting up in the box in a row, or laying down if you aren't doing too many.
HTH!
Michael's craft store sells a limited supply of boxes but it may be less expensive to go through a wholesaler if you need more than a few.
