I have been asked to decorate a cake for a bridal shower. The bride's color theme is persimmon (not sure if I spelled it right). How would I go about making that color? Orange with some red?

That sounds right. Mostly orange w/ a little bit of red in it.

I am assuming the bride means the dark orange moving towards red as that is the most well known color.. That is an exciting theme to work with I would love to take a stab at that. For some additional color inspiration check out the flame color Le Creuset offers on their cookware. It is what I would think of when coloring icing or fondant to match a persimmon theme. Below is a link to an amazon page where they sell that color of cookware.

I just matched a "persimmon" fabric swatch for a wedding. Using Americolors I started with Terracotta (used the largest amount), added a few drops of Orange and a few drops of Tulip Red. For this particular fabric swatch the color came out absolutely perfect......even I was amazed. Good luck with your matching!
