This is probably a dumb question and has probably been asked before but here goes.
As you all know I am pretty new at all this and I am not a cake eater, never have been but I enjoy making them. The only icing I can honestly say I kind of "like" is a cream cheese frosting. I think most people like it.
So I've been looking into recipes etc. and was wondering why there isn't a cream cheese fondant or rolled cream cheese recipe? Is there something about the cream cheese that it simply wouldn't work? This past weekend I made a simple carrot cake with ordinary cream cheese frosting and it got me wondering why it isn't used more in the decorative apect of cakes etc. I understand it would have to be refridgerated etc. but other icings and fillings can also require that. I found the crusting cream chesse recipe on here but I'm really curious to know why it can't be used in a fondant covering? Any thoughts on this?

My understanding is that there is something in the cream cheese that will eat a hole through the fondant.

All of the fondant recipes that I have come across have to be heated and I don't think that the cream cheese would hold up to that (but that is just my opinion, I am new also!!).
