So my son is turning one in september and he is allergic to milk and eggs. I was wondering if someone could help me find a recipe for any flavor cake and some kind of white icing so I can make his birthday cake. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate them, thanks!

My grandson is also allergic to eggs; I have yet to make a successful cake w/o eggs from scratch. Are you willing to use a box mix; if so, I use the CherryBrook cake mix with is gluten/egg/dairy/peanut free (the chocolate is quite good). I have read other posts where people use yogurt as the binding agent (but again I have not been successful doing this).

Here's a recipe...I've never tried it, but sounds good!

I've seen mixes at specialty stores too. Those may be more reliable than a scratch cake unless you have time to try several recipes.

With your son allergic to dairy, I wouldn't use yogurt as a binding agent either ... my son has the dairy alergy and can't have any type of milk, cheese, yogurt ... including goats milk. Mine is 5 now and seems to just starting be growing out of it. (if I cook with a little milk or use a mix it doesn't bother him - it's just when it's straight (uncooked) or the main ingredient). My response to the early years was "what kind of pie do you want?" You're a better mom than me! If your son subsitutes goat milk for cow milk, you could try that (my son reacted to both, so we were limited to Soy milk or Rice milk and Rice milk he wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole (can't blame him) -- I have no clue what to tell you on the eggs though!

Hi

You may also want to pick up the cookbook Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Ive heard many good things about thier recipes.

All the recipes are for cupcakes but they should be able to be made into cakes.

I have made a cake called a Soda Cake

The way that you make it is:

Combine:
Any Boxed cake mix
Any can of diet soda

Bake as directed on the box.

Nothing else... No water... No eggs.. Nothing.
Very moist and really good. You can sprinkle with Cinnamon sugar or Powdered sugar and it is really good.

I have made a White cake with Diet Pepsi... it was so good.

The soda cake sounds really great, but i read the cake mix box and it has an allergy warning that the mix is processed in a facility that also processes milk, eggs, peanuts and walnuts.

My son is not allergic to eggs, just milk, so maybe I can find a cake mix that is not processed in the same plant as milk products, then I think maybe the soda cake would be great.

thanks for the idea.
