Hi girls icon_smile.gif are there any WMI's out there with an idea or two,to throw my way for the fall/halloween class preview this weekend coming?? Gosh i just can't think,I just got back from a trip and starting a new job (2nd job) this week and all I can think to demonstrate for this is what I did last year!!!!!!!! I don't really want to do the same thing twice. So what are fall/halloween ideas for this demo that are easy enough yet effective and will take up the three hour period icon_confused.gif any thoughts would be appreciated

I'll offer a BUMP for you. I'm a WMI as well, and I'm not sure I have a plan either. I was going to do something Halloween and autumn related with cupcakes, and I was also going to have a dummy fall fondant cake at the table. I'm just going to look through old yearbooks for inspiration for the cupcakes. This is the first time I'm doing this, so I'm a little bit nervous!!

Good luck!
Angie

Right now I think I am going to be using the mini cookie cutters on the cupcakes then filling them in with stars. I did some cut ones last year like that. I may also, if I have time, look through past yearbooks for ideas.

My store has also asked me to do the Halloween Gingerbread House, so that will take up some of my time too.

well I was thinking the along those lines...cupcakes.I wasn't sure if I HAVE TO have a real cake.I looked through some old yearbooks this morning. so I think I'll do cupcakes with piped fall and halloween decorations and to take up time a half ball cake turned pumpkin. three hour demo seems so long to me!!!!!!!!!!!!good luck to every WMI

We are suppose to make those fake cupcakes for the stand, and I plan to do that, but I will also have some real cupcakes to leave at my store after the Demo. Since the employess have to walk by looking and smelling icing all afternoon I try to be nice to them. Plus if you are nice to them they are nice back. icon_smile.gif

3 hours sounds like a long time, but when you get down to it it is over before you think. You will be busy decorating and talking to people as they walk by or stand around.

When I was teaching and had to do demo days (I don't miss them at all, haha!) I did a round cake like a jackolantern. When a customer was on their way towards my table, I put some of the star-fill work on the pumpkin so they could see me decorate. You could use premade Wilton icing in black and orange, to show how they can buy the product and not have so much to do at home. I drew on a face and smooth-iced it, then made lines for the lines on the pumpkin, star-filled the orange parts, and when that was done, I made pumpkin vines and leaves all around the edges of it for the border. It was really cute and everything I did was basic Course 1 stuff, which is a good selling point for beginners thinking about starting up classes.

Then I left the cake in the break room for the employees.

Hey, a big thank you for the demo ideas. I had competely forgotten about the one I have coming up this weekend. I am just out of ideas on everything it seems like. Maybe it is the yucky weather we are having here. I have gone keep going through my books, but I am just not inspired yet. Anyway! again thanks for the fall ideas they will be great, but I am missing something on the fake cupcakes. Are you using rice krispy treats? 1busylady

BusyLady, Wilton and/or Michaels decide that for this demo that wanted us to make fake cupcakes for the cupcake stand for them to use as a classroom display. Did your supervisor not pass on that information to you?

I think I will be making mine using the sugar mold recipe.

The information about the Class Preview was in the July/August Newsletter. It is also on the Wilton-Michaels website. I PMed you the link for it.
