My best friend and I have recently gotten into cake decorating. We have taken the level 1 Wilton course from JoAnn's, but are having a beast of a time trying to get a level 2 course to make at ANY craft store. We've been signed up twice, waiting a month between attempts, and neither class has had enough interest. icon_mad.gif

We were wondering if there was anyone willing to teach out of a home or church or a local bakery. We both have small children so weekends work better for us. If anyone thinks this is a possiblity, please let me know.

Thanks in advance! thumbs_up.gif

If you live close to Denton or Grapevine, the Michaels store offers the Level 2 courses. The instructor in Denton has been known to teach with just one person in the class.

I took Levels I-III in Denton. The instructor was okay, but not fabulous. There is a lady that works at the Michaels that teaches the one stroke course. She owns her own bakery and is ten time better than the Wilton instructor. The Wilton Instructor's name is Lindsay and the one stroke teacher is Lisa.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the info about the ladies out of Denton. It's really pretty close to me. My friend and I were trying to find a place between the two of us...she's south of Dallas and I'm north, but at this point we aren't going to get too picky.

I hope they are willing to do a class possibly with just us two. It's my understanding that the individual store is who determines minimum enrollment, and that's why we've had such a problem. icon_cry.gif But with your tip, we may be in business!

Thanks again for the info , I'll give them a call tomorrow!

I think you need to try the other store in denton, that instructor is the best, and she always has a course 1,2,and 3 going. you can pm me if you need to.

Selina is the instructor at Hobby Lobby. I recently took all three courses from her. She is awesome! However, if a class has less than four students it is cancelled. That is determined by Hobby Lobby, not the insturctor.

You might try the Cake Carousel in North Dallas, they offer a wide variety of classes, that should keep you'll busy for awhile. They will also have well known people there if you want to really step out there, but its pricey.Check them out I think the pricing is pretty reasonable.

Today I got a phone call from the coordinator at Michael's that said her instructor is willing to do the class for us! YIPPEE!!! I don't know if she has other people lined up for the course or not, but they said we are a go!!!!!! I'm so excited!

Cupcake - I did look into Cake Carousel. Their prices were VERY reasonable and they had a LOT to choose from. But, the course 2 was offered during the week, which we couldn't do because of our kids...and the one day crash course they offered on a Saturday would just be too overwhelming for us newbies. I LOVE THAT STORE THOUGH!!!!!

Thank you all for your input and advice. I appreciate it!

I LOVE this website!
